It's been a busy start to Spring, so busy that I haven't written anything
on here for ages. One of the reasons any Brit doing my job is so busy
at the moment is the enormous success being enjoyed by British cyclists.
Then to cap it all Mark Cavendish won Milan-San Remo, an incredible
feat coming 45 years after the last British rider to do it.
Other British pros are doing well in their teams, then next year we
have the prospect of a British team taking on the best races in the
world. I did an interview and ride with the Sky team manger, Australia's
Scott Sunderland last week, and that project is going to be exciting.
Probably not fully British next year, but the potential is there to
do it.
As we are well into the spring Classics races, I'm looking at the Tour
de France and busy writing WH Smith's annual 'Guide to the Tour' this
month. In fact I'm on a bit of a Tour de France overload at the moment
because I'm writing a book on the Tour that will be published by Harper
Collins in 2010.
On top of that I've been trying to fit in some training as there are
a few races I want to do later on this year. My fitness, and weight,
are a bit of a work in progress, but old cyclists never lose hope. Keep
on riding, that's what I say.
