Chris Sidwells

I am a freelance writer, a story teller and editor. Since 2003 I’ve provided content and/or photographs for over 1000 features in magazines and websites including Cycling Weekly, Cycle Sport, Cycling Active, Cycling Fitness, Tour magazine, Bicycling, Eroica Britannia, Cycling Plus, GQ Magazine, The Roar, Men’s Fitness, Running Fitness, The Guardian, Inews, Sunday Times and the BBC. I also talk about cycling and commentate on the sport for BBC local radio stations.

I’ve written 18 unique books on cycling, three of them coffee-table books, supplying photographs as well as words for some of them. Several have run to multiple editions, and some have been best-sellers in their genre. I've also contributed to or helped edit another ten book.

My books cover every aspect of cycling. Most have been translated into foreign languages; 24 languages and counting for The Complete Bike Book, and they are sold worldwide. I've also contributed to and helped edit ten other books.

In 2017 a sixth edition of my Bike Repair Book (DK) and two brand new books, Cycling Jerseys (Thames and Hudson) and Wild Cycling (Robinson) were published, as well as American, French, Italian and Spanish versions of Cycling Jerseys.

Two new books will be published in 2018; one is called Call of the Road (Harper Collins) and is a look back at the history and lore of road racing, while the other title is How to Ride a Bike (Hamlyn), a collaboration with six-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy.

I recently published the British pioneer professional Barry Hoban’s autobiography, Vas-y Barry, under my own brand, Cycling Legends, which as well as  publishing books produces a web magazine, www.cyclinglegends.co.uk featuring exclusive content from a number of contributors, including top professional cyclists, and sells exclusive products.

Cycling Legends has other books in the pipeline, including a series of lavishly illustrated books, the first of which will be available direct from the website and from selected outlets in September 2018. We will be building a Cycling Legends series, publishing two of these quality books per year, as well as more standard books.
